About WCPS Nursery

Excellent care and education for children aged from two years

Our on-site 60-place school-based Nursery provides excellent care and education for children aged from two years, led by experienced teachers, for 48 weeks of the year.

WCPS Nursery is led by Teachers Molly Sobey and Sophie Lands, who work very closely with our Early Years Phase Leader, Hannah James. Molly and Sophie also work alongside our Deputy Phase Lead, Laura Mercy and our two WCPS Reception class teachers, Rebecca Houghton and Harriet Webster, forming our very successful Foundation Stage teaching team. The Nursery delivers the first part of the Early Years Foundation Stage, which is continued through into the Reception class, providing progression matched to each child’s developmental stages from two to five years.

WCPS is an inclusive and innovative school which endeavours to create an environment which fosters a love of learning and offers opportunities for children to work both collaboratively and independently to meet their full potential. Our Nursery provides a wide range of opportunities and experiences to encourage our youngest children to develop their natural curiosity and thinking skills while having fun, indoors and outside:

  • Our fantastic nursery classroom and outdoor area provide stimulating learning experiences
  • Our qualified, dedicated and caring staff ensure the development of your child’s vital skills – physical, personal, social and emotional.
  • Staff focus on each child’s individual needs

You can be assured that your child will develop the foundations upon which they will continue to build throughout their school career and beyond developing independence and confidence in their learning as well as making friendships that will carry through to their primary school years.

Session Times

The Nursery sessions run from:

8.00am to 9.00am (3-4 year olds only)

9.00am to 12.00pm (Morning Session)

12.00pm to 3.00pm (Afternoon Session)

3.00pm to 6.00pm (3-4 year olds only)

Children attending a morning session need to be collected at 12.00pm. Children attending an afternoon session, or all day, need to be collected at 3.00pm, unless they are attending the 3.00 - 6.00pm session.

Lunch

Lunch times are part of the education of the children as they teach them key social skills. We therefore allow for lunch to be eaten at the end of the morning sessions or at the beginning of the afternoon session, depending on your child’s session pattern.
Children attending a morning session only can have lunch at 11.30am or you may prefer your child to eat at home with you.

Children attending an afternoon session only can have lunch when they arrive at 12.00pm.

We offer nursery children the chance to become part of our Dining Club where between one and five lunches per week can be purchased in advance, with a weekly pre-order of your child’s menu choices. The current menu can be viewed on the school website (under the parents’ tab) and we send out the next term's menu choices at the end of the previous term. Alternatively your child can bring a packed lunch from home.

Charges

Our current hourly rates are:

£6.50 per hour for 2 year olds

£5.30 per hour for 3 and 4 year olds

These are charged for hours over and above Early Years Entitlement, Extended Entitlement, 2 Year Old funding and for non-funded children.

You can check with www.gov.uk to see whether you are eligible to receive help with childcare costs, including the 2 Year Old scheme.

How to Pay

Invoices for any unfunded hours are sent out at the beginning of every term. Our preferred method of payment is online, using the ‘Wisepay’ system, which is accessible via the school’s website. We also accept employer’s childcare vouchers and tax free childcare payments.
